Harley Quinn (Dra. Harleen Frances Quinzel) is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comics published by DC Comics, usually as an adversary of the superhero Batman. The character was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, and first appeared in Batman: The Animated Series in September 1992. He appeared later in the Batman comics DC Comics, his first appearance in a comic in The Batman Adventures # 12 (September 1993). Throughout its animated representations, he appears speaking with a pronounced New York accent.

The character is a frequent accomplice and girlfriend of the Joker, and a close friend of the supervillain Poison Ivy, who won an immunity to poisons and toxins. The origin story of Harley Quinn reports that met the Joker while working as a psychiatrist in Arkham Asylum, where the Joker was a patient. Its name is a name game "Harlequin," an original character from the commedia dell'arte.

Originally the voice of Harley Quinn was interpreted by Arleen Sorkin in various tie-ins animated DC universe, and also put his voice to the character Hynden Walch and Tara Strong either in the DC Animated Showcase or several video games.
