Toy Story is a
children's computer animated film directed by John Lasseter, released in 1995
and produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar. It was Pixar's first feature,
besides the first fully animated with digital effects in film history cine.
Joss Whedon, Andrew
Stanton, Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow wrote the script, and Randy Newman
composed the soundtrack. The main cast consisted of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen,
who lent their voices in English characters Woody and Buzz, respectively. For
the animation process, they worked a total of 110 employees of Pixar, 4 unlike
the 800 who worked on one of the last productions of Disney in those years, The
Lion King (1994) .
The story follows the
adventures of a group of living toys, including cowboy Woody and Buzz Lightyear
the space ranger. While at first they rivaling each other, as the plot proceeds
are becoming friends. After its release, Toy Story became the highest grossing
film of USA and Canada in its first weekend grossed exhibición. In total more
than $ 191 million in both countries, and additional more than 361 million
internationally, earned her positive reviews mostly, where technical
innovation of the animation and praised guion.
Disney and Pixar began
a franchise inspired by the characters and elements of the film, which includes
toys and games, among other various products. The plot of Toy Story was
continued at the movies with Toy Story 2 (1999) and Toy Story 3 (2010). In
November 2014, Disney announced production of Toy Story 4 under the direction of
John Lasseter, director of the first installment of the saga. Its release date
is scheduled for 16 June 2018.
In the opening scenes,
the cowboy doll Woody is coordinating a reconnaissance mission around Andy's
birthday party, his owner, days before he and his family move to a new house.
To the dismay of Woody, the child receives a new action figure, astronaut Buzz
Lightyear, whose innovative features would soon become his new favorite toy,
replacing the old-fashioned cowboy. However, a Buzz confused do not realize
that in reality, he is also a toy, then thought to be a space warrior and,
therefore, sees Woody as an obstacle in the "mission" to return to
his planet originally.
It does not take long
to try to get rid of Buzz Woody: on his first attempt, push a gap behind Andy's
desk but eventually, unfortunately his opponent fails and falls out the window.
Aware of this, other toys (including sergeants, and mainly Ham and Mr. Potato
Head very angry) accuse Woody of attempting to murder Buzz because he is jealous
that Andy him Replace however, when they go to reprimand him , Andy arrives and
takes it with him, because it will leave for a restaurant with his family. In
the process, Buzz watches Andy part along with Woody in the family van and
decides to get into the vehicle to face him for what happened. When Andy's
mother makes a stop at a gas station and while the cowboy is thinking about how
to return home to face other toys, Buzz suddenly appears and they fight in the
place; in the end, they are accidentally abandoned by Andy.
To meet Andy at the
restaurant, the sheriff plans to address a truck that goes to that place;
however, he realizes that if he returns alone, the other toys would punish him.
To avoid this, Woody convinces Buzz that the truck would take them to a
spaceship with which the astronaut could go home. After address it and get to
the restaurant, Buzz is directed to a machine catchers shaped ship stuffed
animals, thinking that's what the cowboy had promised. Realizing this, Woody
tries to rescue him being trapped with him inside the machine. Later they are
extracted by Sid Phillips, Andy's neighbor known for its ruggedness and being a
destroyer of toys.
The day before moving
day Andy and his family, Woody and Buzz are looking for ways to escape the
strange room of Sid, where they encounter creepy toys that young has altered
and destroyed over the years. At that moment, Buzz seen a television commercial
other Buzz Lightyear toys, realizing that he is also a toy. Before such
disclosure listless, Buzz tries ously in desperate one last chance to fly out
the window, but falls and literally breaks the arm. Woody is unable to
encourage him to participate in his plan to escape, even when Sid toys repaired
arm astronaut doll. Meanwhile, the boy prepares to destroy Buzz tying him to a
rocket fireworks, but such preparation is delayed due to a storm. Finally, the
sheriff manages to convince Buzz that life is worth only experiencing it, even
though he is not a space hero, but in the process loses hope that he will have
any chance of being Andy's favorite. Given this conflict episode, Buzz manages
to revive him, but Sid wakes up before they escape and takes Buzz (still
attached to the rocket), to its launch pad in the backyard of his house. With
the collaboration of Sid's toys, Woody and company organized the rescue of Buzz
successfully. Once in the backyard of the house next door, the mutant toys
(even Woody) terrorize Sid, who runs away in fear of their own toys. Woody and
Buzz goodbye to the mutant toys However, their attempts are unsuccessful, then
unfortunately lose Andy's car while it is driven toward the new family home.
To enter the moving
truck, Buzz decides to sacrifice in order to save Woody; Once inside the
vehicle, the cowboy doll tries to rescue his friend with the car remote control
Andy. The other toys found in the moving van mistakenly believe Woody tries to
get rid of another toy, so they throw it on the road with Buzz. Later, they
realize that the astronaut is with him on board the car and try to help them
get on the truck, but car batteries are depleted, so Woody and Buzz are left
behind. The first then realizes that can ignite the rocket Sid is Buzz's back
and manages to throw the car directly into the moving truck, causing both to
rise in the air. At the end Buzz he manages to break free of the rocket, and he
and Woody glide through the air and landing in Andy's car.
On Christmas Eve, and
in the new home, reconciled, Buzz and Woody organize another reconnaissance
mission, this time in order to prepare for the arrival of new toys. While Woody
wonders if there will be a gift worse than Buzz, a bark is heard from
downstairs: Andy has received a dog, leaving Woody and Buzz restless.
